PREVENTATIVE SERVICES
Cleanings & Hygiene
In order to maintain a healthy
mouth, regular examinations and cleanings are imperative to your
dental health. Brushing and flossing should be part of your daily routine.
Our hygienists pride themselves on
providing our patients with the finest oral hygiene available today.
During your hygiene visit, we will perform an oral cancer exam, update
your medical history, check your teeth for cavities and examine your
periodontal condition. We also educate our patients on the importance
of good oral health, prevention of gum disease and help them develop a
preventative maintenance program tailored to their individual needs.
Sealants
Sealants are a safe, painless, and low cost way to help protect your
child's teeth from decay. Sealants have been used on children's teeth
for more than 20 years. A thin plastic, tooth-colored or clear coating
is bonded to the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This forms a hard
shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in
the teeth and causing decay.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments are essential in the prevention of tooth
decay. Normally, fluoride treatments are given during your
routine hygiene appointment. Fluoride is absorbed into the tooth
enamel, especially in children's growing teeth.
Once teeth are developed, fluoride
makes the entire tooth structure more resistant to decay and promotes
remineralization, which aids in repairing early decay before the damage is
even visible.
Oral Cancer Screening
Regular visits to your dentist are vital in protecting yourself from the
effects of oral cancer. As part of your regular dental examination, we
can quickly and easily check the oral tissues for signs of cancerous and
precancerous lesions. Detecting and treating cancerous tissues as
early as possible is critical in helping you beat a potentially deadly
disease. Oral Cancer screenings are performed during your regular
dental check-ups.
Tooth Whitening & Bleaching
Regardless of how well you take care of your teeth, overtime,
yellowing and discoloration will occur. This is due to many
factors, such as aging and many substances that we use
everyday that stain our teeth, such as coffee, tea and tobacco . Let
us help to restore a brighter whiter smile and give you the confidence that
you have been looking for.
Athletic Mouth Guards
More than 200,000 injuries occur to the mouth, face and jaw each year in
sports related activities. Athletic mouth guards are designed to
protect your mouth from these injuries. This flexible appliance
is made of plastic or acrylic and formed to the exact impression of
your mouth and will provide the best protection against dental/facial
injuries.
Periodontal Treatments
In the early stages of periodontal disease, your gums will appear
red, swollen and in many cases bleeding will occur. If left
untreated, it could lead to tooth loss and serious health problems.
Periodontal disease is caused by the excessive toxic bacteria, found in
plaque, that attack the soft tissue of your mouth. If caught in the
early stages, in most cases, treatment will reverse the damage caused
by this condition and help restore your gums to a healthy condition.
Occlusal Splints
For those patients who experience pain and discomfort resulting from TMJ
disorders, bruxism (grinding teeth) or clenching, we provide an appliance
called an occlusal splint. These splints are used to correct the
disorder by restoring balance between the teeth, muscles and joints.
RESTORATIVE SERVICES
Porcelain Veneers
Veneers are an excellent cosmetic
option that offer alternatives for patients whose teeth are stained,
chipped, misaligned, too short, too long or crooked. Veneers are
thin shells that are laid onto the teeth and bonded to the surface.
All-porcelain veneers are an extremely durable, vital restorative option
that provide an exact match to your natural teeth that are virtually
undetectable.
Crowns
A crown may be necessary when a tooth is cracked, damaged or decayed in any
way. Crowns are designed to cover the entire tooth to provide strong
reinforcement, they can whiten, reshape and realign your existing teeth
providing you with a healthy beautiful smile. All-porcelain crowns can
be matched exactly to the natural color of your teeth.
Bridges
Bridges are used to replace missing teeth. They consist of a
replacement tooth connected to two crowns, which fit over the teeth adjacent
to the gap. Not only do bridges improve appearance, but they can make
chewing and speaking easier in most cases.
Inlays & Onlays
Porcelain inlays and onlays are
an excellent, conservative solution to cavity pain, reduced strength in
chewing and general decay of the back teeth. Inlays and onlays
are made with tooth colored composite material, in lieu of mercury or silver
as used in the past, restoring the tooth's natural beauty. Virtually
indistinguishable from natural teeth, inlays and onlays discretely restore
teeth to a healthy state.
Implants
An Implant can replace any
or all of your teeth. This remarkable restorative option becomes
integrated with the bone, which will ultimately
support a new tooth. Implants can provide stability, increased patient
comfort, natural esthetics and confidence. They do not require the
cutting down of neighboring teeth as bridges do. Once the implant is
placed and integrates with the bone, an esthetic crown is attached to
the implant.
Implant Supported
Partial and Complete Dentures
For those patients who have difficulty
with mobile partial or complete dentures an implant supported partial
denture or complete denture is often the treatment of choice.
Overdentures are an implant supported denture, held securely to
increase speaking and chewing ability. A customized denture is
attached to individual implants or a row of implants, securing the denture
in place. They are natural-looking, long-lasting and quite durable.
Dentures
As we age, our teeth tend to deteriorate naturally. Overtime, a
denture may be required to replace those teeth that we have lost.
There are many types of dentures available today. Partial
Dentures, Full Dentures and Overdentures. We also offer implant
supported overdentures .
Full dentures are necessary when few of the original teeth remain. We
begin by removing any remaining teeth so the dentures can be
fitted. From there, we make a mold of the gums and send it to a
dental laboratory, where customized dentures are constructed. Patients are
typically fitted with temporary dentures until the permanent set of dentures
have been completed.
Partial dentures are prepared in much the same way as a full denture, and
are utilized when only a few teeth are missing.
Overdentures may be prescribed for a patient that has some teeth remaining
in the mouth with strong roots, gums and tissues. The
overdenture will fit onto the remaining teeth in the mouth and are
held securely to increase speaking and chewing ability. Overdentures
are extremely comfortable and deliver a beautiful natural looking smile.
Regardless of the type of denture that is right for you,
dentures can give you back a healthy beautiful smile!
Root Canal Therapy
We provide extensive root canal therapy for those patients whose
tooth's pulp, (nerve and blood supply) become infected or inflamed.
Root canals are designed to save the damaged tooth, where the diseased
pulp is removed and the tooth is permanently sealed with a gold, porcelain
or tooth-colored crown. It is extremely important to follow up after
your
root canal procedure with your dentist and complete the permanent
restoration, to protect and support the remaining tooth structure.
The leading causes for root canal therapy are large cavities, cracked or
fractured teeth or large, older restorations that over time , will severely
irritate the nerve. Contrary to what most people have heard, root
canal therapy is virtually painless!
Oral Surgery & Extractions
When a tooth cannot be saved, many times the only course of
treatment is the removal or extraction of the tooth, allowing us to
prepare for the restorative option that is determined for your specific
circumstances.
